Rosemary R. Gliem, Ph.D.
Rosemary Gliem, Ph.D., received all her degrees from The Ohio State University (OSU) with minor areas in research methods and evaluation. She was the Director of the Data Center which was housed in the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences at OSU. In that position she was responsible for managing all aspects of the office as well as providing demographic, economic, and agricultural data to all of Ohio’s 88 counties as part of the OSU Extension function of the Data Center. She also assisted many employees with survey development and analysis of survey data. Two major projects she was involved in was conducting research in the area of employee satisfaction at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and the North Carolina State University Extension service. She was directly involved in survey development, administration, and analysis of the data. She was a research analyst/IRB administrator at Columbus State Community College in Columbus, OH. In that position she analyzed data looking for trends in student course-taking behavior as well as predictors of student success. She also reviewed employee research proposals to determine if all research protocols were being met. A major responsibility of that position was survey development and analysis of survey data.
Joe A. Gliem, Ph.D.
Dr. Gliem served for 40 years as a professor in the departments of Agricultural and Biological Engineering and Agricultural Communication, Education, and Leadership at The Ohio State University before his retirement in 2014. During that time, Dr. Gliem spent 18 years teaching graduate courses in Research Methods, Research Design, and Data Analysis for students in the social and health sciences. He has served on over 100 graduate student committees in several colleges/schools including Allied Medicine; Arts and Sciences; Education and Human Ecology; Environment and Natural Resources; Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences; Nursing; Pharmacy, and Social Work. He provided guidance to students and faculty in identifying the type of research, the design of the study, the appropriate instrumentation to use, and the analysis and interpretation of research results. He was one of the principle investigators on projects with The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and the North Carolina State University Extension.
